A backup is a recoverable copy of your website—not merely a plugin that says backups are scheduled. A useful WordPress backup plan must include both the database and website files, store copies away from the web server and be tested before an emergency.
What needs to be backed up?
The database contains posts, pages, settings, orders and other structured content. The files include themes, plugins, uploads and configuration. You normally need both parts to restore the complete site. The right schedule depends on how quickly the website changes.
Set up a sensible UpdraftPlus routine

A mostly static company website may need daily database backups and less frequent file backups. Test the restore process
A successful backup notification is useful, but a controlled restoration is stronger evidence. Test on a staging or development copy where possible. Document who has access to the remote account, where recovery credentials are stored and who is responsible for acting when a backup fails.

Updates, strong unique passwords, limited administrator accounts, reputable hosting, malware monitoring and secure devices still matter. Backups reduce the impact of a failure; they do not prevent every attack or mistake.
